News reports say that the body of Notorious B.I.G., will be cremated tomorrow (3/18/97) after private services (in Manhattan) and a motorcade through the streets of of Brooklyn, where the slain rapper grew up. Earlier reports had his mother, Voletta Wallace, and his estranged wife, singer Faith Evans at odds about how the funeral should be handled. Reportedly, his mother wanted a low key private service, while Faith insisted on a lavish procession through the streets with his music blaring from loudspeakers.
On Friday, the two women issued a joint statement that said they hoped for a quiet, dignified procession through the streets and pleaded to those not from the area not make special trips to see the procession. They were concerned that large crowds could create an incident.
